day at a time from our artistic blocks and
are excited to encourage you
to submit original art in visual format of
any non-Ai generated artwork.
Please send your art, poetry,
photography, illustration, photographs of 3
Dimensional art, sculpture, images of
lyrics, audio and video files, snippets of
stories or any image you want to include in
our monthly newsletters. We also invite
original artwork to appeal to A.R.T.S.
events and announcements.

Members Stories!
When
we share what A.R.T.S. Anonymous has
done for us, we give struggling
artists, both inside and outside the
meetings, the opportunity to
identify with someone. They might
even experience the power of hope.
It is possible for others to recover
when they see how the program has
worked for us.
A.R.T.S. members are invited to
submit personal recovery stories for
a new A.R.T.S. Anonymous book. A
suggested format is:

Getting The Help I Need:
Concept of
Service 8

I was once challenged to look at the
Concepts of Service of A.R.T.S. Anonymous,
and how they might relate to my art. The
idea put me off at first. I don’t know if
I’m alone in the delusion that matters of
“service” have nothing to do with my
artmaking. And yet I see how often I need
help from those who have actual expertise in
a number of areas.
Concept of Service 8 asks that the Board of
Trustees rely on an Executive Committee to
handle the day-to-day operations of World
Services. The Board of Trustees has the
responsibility to devote itself to the
larger, serious matters having to do with
finance, literature development, public
relationships, leadership, legal matters,
and more. The Board takes a deliberative
approach, using its best judgment to plan,
manage, and execute. For this reason, the
Board can’t be expected to become distracted
and burdened by smaller regular items that
might be routine. The Board delegates
responsibility to those better suited to
make things happen.
I needed a show booth as a means of showing
my work at fine craft shows. I found
directions online for what I wanted, using
readily available materials from local
hardware stores. But did I really need to be
the one to do the building? I probably could
have managed, learned new skills, and
experienced irritating frustrations at the
lack of them. I sought help from an
“Executive” in the form of a willing and
skilled husband who loves a new building
project.
I plan, manage, and execute my art. I also
decide which shows I will bring my work to,
strategizing my work according to the
opportunities that arise. But I need help
loading and unloading 4” x 7” panels into
the back of a van, setting up lighting,
unrolling the carpet, adjusting the booth
legs. For that I am grateful to the family
members, friends, and assorted young people
I have asked or hired along the way.

Calling all
Submission and Topics of
Discussion for the
World
Service Conference
The World Service Conference (“the
Conference”) is a time and the place
where the membership, through their
representatives, takes responsibility
for A.R.T.S. service around the world.
Every group has a primary purpose, to
carry the message to the artist who
still suffers. As long as struggling
artists are out there, there is the
responsibility to find ways to make that
happen. Step 12, which asks that we try
to carry the message, is as much for our
own recovery as Tradition 5 is for
A.R.T.S. as a whole.
Does your group or committee
have a concern or idea in support of the
primary purpose or world services? Would
it like to have it considered at the
Conference? The Conference policy is
that a Motion or Topic for Discussion is
submitted preferably after a group
conscience. There is a form to submit
that, and it is here: Submission
Form for Motions and Topics of
Discussion. Submissions
are due on October 9, 2026.
The dates of the next World
Service Conference are January 16, 17,
23 with a possible fourth day on January
24, 2027. The
Conference be held on Zoom.
