Additionally, Jay M. and Chinu, our Office Manager, have endeavored to update the meeting list and provide a sortable feature so that you can view the list by time, day, time zone, country, etc. We hope this eases the ability to find and access ARTS meetings, including on phone screens.

Tax-Exempt Statements for 2022 Donations: A.R.T.S. Anonymous, Inc. Is a not-for-profit 501(3) (c) entity, and so your financial contributions are tax-exempt. For 2023: Writings on the Traditions

While the Twelve Steps of A.R.T.S. Anonymous guide us to recover our inspiration and joy in expressing our creativity, the Twelve Traditions guide our focus on our primary purpose in A.R.T.S. Anonymous. What better way to begin this new year of 2023 than with a focus on the Tradition that corresponds with each of the 12 months. Below in this January issue of the newsletter is one member’s personal response to Tradition 1.

February’s Newsletter welcomes your response to Tradition 2: For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority – a loving God as he may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants, they do not govern.

We suggest the following series of questions when writing your response.

What does Tradition 2 mean to you?

How do you feel about Tradition 2?

How may Tradition 2 assist your creative expressions?

It will be wonderful to receive your thoughts, feelings, and application of Tradition 2. Please send your response to the editors at newsletter@artsanonymous.org for possible publication.

Tradition One – A Personal Response

Tradition 1: Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon A.R.T.S. unity.

I love that the first tradition on this list of twelve is about welfare and unity. Like many of us, I come from a childhood that failed to demonstrate what behaviors of health, well-being, or unity look like. The meeting I chose to attend opens with the guiding words of the Serenity Prayer, on how to sort out what I am powerless over, from what I may seek to change. With God’s guidance, I reach the wisdom and the courage I need to sojourn through the labyrinth of my experiences. Tradition one secures that I am a valued part of a group pledging to maintain an environment of well-being. I am joining people who also struggle to engage their creativity. I feel relieved that I am not strange, and no longer alone.  Click here for the full essay

Join in on Planning the
2023 A.R.T.S. World Service Conference

We’re trying something a little different this year. Instead of holding Agenda-Setting meetings, we are inviting all those that are interested to come and help set the agendas for the Pre- Conference meetings at the Conference Planning Committee meeting.

Main items for discussion at the Conference Planning Committee meeting; Dates / Times /Days for the Conference, Convention and Celebration Day, election of officers for the Committee, setting a calendar for the Pre-Conference meetings, and the agenda for the February Pre-Conference meeting.

As always, the Committee can be reached at conference@artsanonymous.org

All welcome!

Meeting our Primary Purpose – One Way it Happens

How does A.R.T.S Anonymous meet its primary purpose to carry its message to the struggling artist?

One way is through managing:

  • Income from donations, workshops, Literature, the 2022 World Service Conference and miscellaneous, which in 2022 came to: $28,116.30
  • And expenses to manage and fulfill the costs of A.R.T.S. Anonymous donations, events, Literature, and the website: $24,297.69.

What does all this mean for each meeting striving to meet its primary purpose? Well, if you divide what it costs to manage A.R.T.S Anonymous by the number of meetings, about 55, taking place each week; that comes out to be about $424.19 per meeting for the year, or $35.34 per month per meeting. However, donations from meetings for 2022 were: $966.95. or $17.50 per meeting or $1.45 per month.

We are very fortunate to have the 138 members of A.R.T.S. who make direct contributions to World Services. However this raises the question, to what extent is my meeting practicing the 7th Tradition?

Calling all A.R.T.S. Members: Workshops!

The workshop committee is looking for ARTS members to join our committee. We meet once a month to discuss ideas and topics for workshops and help and provide guidelines for A.R.T.S. members who would like to share their art and provide workshops on various topics.

Do you have experience, strength, and hope in some aspect of the program of recovery in ARTS to share, helping others to deepen their understanding of the program? Ideas for sharing creative skills with others? Think about leading a workshop. Our committee will help by spreading the word to other ARTS members and handling the logistics.

We will agree upon the ticket price for your workshop, which will also be a way to raise much needed funding/donations for A.R.T.S. World Services. All proceeds from these workshops will go to A.R.T.S.

Thank you, and please let us know if you’d like to join our committee and/or facilitate a workshop by emailing: workshops@artsanonymous.org

In service,

The Workshop Committee

Zoom-a-thon News

From Donna D.: The December Zoomathon on Christmas Eve was a success! So many people showed up and shared their strength, experience and hope it was a day to remember.

The A.R.T.S. Zoomathon is a precious gift providing us all with a worldwide opportunity to support each other as we find the courage to share our special gifts. Some of us are too frightened to even attend the event, not to mention exposing our art gifts. Some of us do “suit up and show up,” risking all by sharing what we have created. Some members even request feedback knowing that all comments will come from appreciation of the risk it takes to share and gratitude for the cheering section that many of us do not hear in our own heads. For me, the A.R.T.S. Zoomathon is a priceless gift and I look forward to spending the day with my creative, supportive, fun, intelligent, brave, delightful, talented family of choice.

Donna D. really needs help each month producing the wonderful worldwide ARTS Zoomathon, which takes place the 4th Saturday of each month. Please, please, please consider choosing a job or two below and offering your service. You may send your service choice to zoomathon@artsanonymous.org.  No experience needed.

Help needed with: Maintaining the Zoomathon mailing list and sending out regular emails and reminders, confirming meeting hosts, coordinating tech hosts, updating the monthly flyer and sending to the office for posting, providing tech hosts with information to post during the event, etc.

January 28 is the 20th occurrence of the Zoomathon. Encourage the newcomer to attend, bring your art to share, provide your experience, strength, and hope on recovery in A.R.T.S., sign your meeting up to make a commitment to lead. The suggested donation is $10. To see the current flyer, go to January Zoomathon.
