For 2024: Writings on the Steps

While the Twelve Traditions guide us in the primary purpose of A.R.T.S. Anonymous, the Twelve Steps guide us to recover our inspiration and joy in expressing our creativity. What better way to celebrate 2024 than with a focus on the Steps that corresponds with each of the twelve months. Below in this May newsletter is one member’s contribution on Step Five.

June’s Newsletter welcomes your response to Step 6: Were entirely ready to have God remove these defects of character.

The following series of questions are suggested as a guide when writing a response.

  • What does Step 6 mean to you?
  • How do you feel about Step 6?
  • How might Step 6 free your creative expression?

It will be wonderful to receive your thoughts, feelings, and application of Step 6. Please send your response to the editors at newsletter@artsanonymous.org for possible publication.

To me it sounds a little archaic, the word “wrongs” in the context of A.R.T.S. recovery. For after all, am I not working to reclaim what is “right” about me? To recover my creative expression, which to me is God-given? How can there be a wrong in that?

I struggled with the many faces of my blocks, including avoidance, lack of confidence, inability to...

21 A.R.T.S. artists, performing / exhibiting a vast panoply of creativity, coming from different genres of art, from diverse race, cultures, countries, and genders light up the A.R.T.S. Spring Sharathon Festival 2024.

They brought their art from a many as 15 different art genres, and from 5 different countries, making this event truly international. The festival took place on Saturday, April 27th, 2024

As the attendees rejoiced at no longer being blocked artists, celebrating one another’s art, those 3 hours flew past. Even so, the host graciously allowed extra time so that everyone got the opportunity to participate.

Seeing fellow members expressing heartfelt gratitude whilst shedding tears of happiness is both moving and touching.

As a gathering, we encourage one another to enjoy the wonder that recovery in A.R.T.S. brings…

Welcoming the Newcomer and the Basic Pamphlet

Newcomers arriving at their first meetings are often trying to decide, “is this for me?” What can be done to ensure that they feel welcome to participate in the discovery of a personal journey toward recovering their creative expression?

The Basic Pamphlet of A.R.T.S. Anonymous contains the Conference-approved Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, Traits, Talents and Tools. Out of respect for the hard work and careful consideration of the World Service Conference over the decades, which meets to make decisions on behalf of the whole of A.R.T.S. around the world, the hope is that your meeting can make good use of these foundational elements of the Fellowship. The Steps ARE the program of recovery, with deep gratitude to Alcoholics Anonymous, which minted the Steps. Traditions provide guidance for...
